Which CD-MP3 player is the best?

Hi gurus,

I want to buy a new CD-MP3 HU at 250-350$. I'm thinking of Sony CDX-MP450X or Kenwood KDC-MP8017.

Maybe even JVC KDSH99 or Panasonic CQ-DP171U.

Which one you think is the best? Any other recommendations?

Will they all play every (fix or variable) MP3 bit rate compression?

I have the SH99 and I highly recommend it. It plays ID-3 tags, has 3 sets of pre-outs, sub level controls, etc. The Sh99 will play any mp3 file (as I think all the others will) so that shouldn't be a big factor in your choice. The only thing is that the SH99 deck isn't that flashy, it's cool to look out but it doesn't have screensavers like pioneer decks have.

try the clarion

ally silver cool display preamp out aux in (handy for psx audio) and best of all it has a knob so its easy to control without fiddly buttons

give one a go

I'm also thinking of getting a new head unit that can play mp3s. My biggest concern is of how the different players read the mp3's. For example, if I have a cd with about a hundred songs on it, separated by some sort of scheme into folders, how does the player play them? Is it possible to have a playlist like that from winamp? None of the spec's that I've read even touch on this subject. I know that some of you out there already have some of these players and I would really appreciate it if you would write a short review for me on these issues so that I know which player is best for me. Thanks in advance.

I don't know if this will help, but I'm going to add my laptop to my car system because it has a 6.4gig hard drive in it.and it is loaded with Mp3s and Gps software.

The Kenwood and the JVC will read the MP3's in folders just like you store them on your computer.

I just installed an Aiwa CDC-MP3 and have been quite happy with it. It is able to read a cd with folders as well. The wireless remote makes sorting thru them pretty easy.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

How about the Kenwood z828 and the Pioneer DEH-P7400MP. Which of those two do you think are the best?

If you want a top of the line Hard disk MP3 player, check this out: empeg.com. It says the units are sold out on sonic blue's page, but I've been told there are still some 30 GB models left.

The price dropped from about $1600 a year ago to $1000 to $400 for clearance. Not a bad deal at all.

Rockford Fosgate RFX-9300 is a very nice deck that plays mp3 cds...i just bought one and i love it

I GOT THE KENWOOD 8017 AND IT IS A REALLY GOOD MP3..HAS THE ID3 TAG AND HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS READING ANY CDS...YOU CAN PLACE THE SONGS IN FOLDERS WITH EASE...I HAVE ONE CD WITH LIKE 300+ SONGS....EVERYTHING WORKS GOOD AND EXCELLENT QUALITY..
