Which Brand is better JL or ID?

install will make the difference between these two.. yes JL makes very nice stuff.. very nice.. way overpriced tho and i dont care what anyone says.. almost anything ID makes is solid in its own right

funny how ppl are saying JL is better then ID just because JL is on TV? Sony is on tv too but yet it's flamed big time on here. also fyi ID was rated better on a full range speaker roundup by Car Audio Electronics mag. It was the CTX65 priced at 169 and it beat JL Audio's C5-650x priced at 549.95

It seem like most shop owners dont know much about what is good, they go by what others say.

ID does make great products, but maybe you should buy some ID just to show him that he doesn't know everything about speakers.

plus you you have some great sounding product in your ride, to show off

I bought a pair of IDMAX 12s brand new from a dealer with waranty for 450$ about 2 years ago. Let me know the next time you can find a single w713 for 450$ let alone a pair. The W6 on the other hand... Is a very good sub, and can be had for less than your 1st born child.

How about this. I sat in a JL SQ competition vehicle last week at CES.

I also sat in 2 ID cars.

JL had no dynamics, noise issues, harsh tweeters.

ID horns, you can't beat the dynamics. For anything.

ID mids, yea, if you can find a 6x9 Mid range driver that takes 800wrms and pounds like one of those. you have me sold. Cause ID's did!

Substage....in a SQ car sub is maybe 10 percent of the total car. The w6 sounds good but IDQ has a much flatter response curve.

You know what, CA&E had this same discussion...

That's their low line coaxial.

There's another article about the JL 500 or somethin dollar speaker gettin' smashed by ID.

^^^^ clearly not a fan of ID products.....

just playin man

Which JL car did you sit in?

If you sat in Mark Eldridge's NASCAR, then you're likely deaf.

If you sat in their Galphin, Manville admitted it is a show car and not a SQ competition car.

As to the original question; It's about as pointless as arguing if Ford is better than Chevy. Both have their merits. JL is not overpriced. I wouldn't be ashamed to own products made by either company. ID takes entirely too long to bring new products to market.

I did sit in Mark's.

And I'm sorry but after sitting in Aubrey's and Sean's ID cars, Even Focal's, Dynaudio, Morel, and DLS' car's. Marks dynamics weren't there. I was not impressed with the JL components whatsoever.

Don't get me wrong.

His stage, and his image, was incredible, the BEST I have heard. Seriously. But the JL speakers just didn't sound good to me. I just wasn't impressed, there was no life to them. And it felt like there was a "fuzziness" to them, if that's a fair conclusion. But of course, that is just my opinion.

a guy i know has a w7 in same car as mine with proper sealed enclosure with plenty of power to make it happy and my idmax smokes his in terms of sq and spl (not that he would have a chance going against a ported box). my max isnt even in proper enclosure(will be even better once i do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ). my sub is much more accurate and has a much flatter response than his w7.

i mention this because somebody mentioned not hearing these two perticular subs together

also cant really say that i have heard jl speakers that i really was too impressed with either. i was in a car once that had a very nice solid install and had 2 pairs of zr comps up front and it sounded alright but something was just missing.

i do love the new jl hd amps though they are pure *** and i really wish i could afford to get my hands a a pair

Thank you.

Seriously, compare the engineering and construction of the W6 vs the IDQ (since someone said they sound the same //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif) and you're looking at two totally different animals. Mad props to JL to sticking to their guns and maintaining their SRP prices where they *should* be. But, also ID deserves credit for making some very nice price/peformance products.
