Which battery and what size:

Hey Guy's,

Got a question in general to my specific set-up. I'm running 4 12" Kicker CRV's with a 2010 Hifonics amp with stock power set-up in a 01 Dodge Dakota 4 door truck. I'm currently running at about 13.8-13.9 at the battery but I would like to see somewhere in the range of 14.1-14.4 if possible. I'm planning on doing the "Big 3" soon but I also want to replace my stock battery with a bigger/better battery that will fit in the same location (If possible) maybe Optima, Stinger. Eventually I will be replacing the alt. but as for now this is what I'm working on. If anyone could give me some insight on what to use i would appreciate it.

A better battery would help, seems like you are not really drawing too much if you are only dipping to the high 13's. Bigger alt would keep u above 14 where the battery would help keeping you above 12. Kinetik HC2000 should fit.

be carefull. that amp should drain your voltage at full tilt. measure it while your laying fully into it. i had that set up x2 with 8cvr 12s and 2 2610s.

Yeah at full tilt I'm dropping down in the 12's so I'm keeping an eye on it. I'm probably going to stick with Kinetik, I hear good things about those batteries plus I can alway's add another "after" I upgrade to an HO alt.

I would go with Xstatic Model 2000.

I would go ahead and do your big 3 upgrade.

The Big 3 consists of: Upgrading your power wire to your Alternator, upgrading your ground wire from your battery to chasis, and upgrading your ground from your engine block to chasis. I would go ahead and upgrade everything to 1/0 gauge wire, so in the future if you want to go bigger then you already have this part complete.

The name of the game is to cut down the resistance on your wire. Less resistance means more power.
