im gonna get a pair of these 10" sony xplod subs

Sony XS-L103P5B

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-g9sLNfBSyBN/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=520&I=158XSL103

which are rated at 330 watts RMS each

OPTION #1(which i wanna do)

get a pair Sony XM-1252GTR amps to power each sub

they'll put out 340 watts RMS (BRIDGED) into each sub

OPTION #2(just do this)

get this sony amp

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-cbLoyQCqkEW/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=158XM2002

and just put 200 watts into each sub

Please do a search on Sony on this forum first. You will find that despite being a reputable brand for most everything else(TVs, Playstaion, etc) Car Audio is one of their weakest links.

Since you are buying over the internet, we here can find you a much better system in the price range you are looking at.

For example.(Click the links)

Alpine Type-R 10

A much better sub for only $10 more

Orion 1200D

This amp will send 1200 true watts(Trust me, I have owned this amp and still own its big brother) to two of the Alpine's listed above.

Above all else, hang around here for a week or two before you buy anything. You will be much happier in the long run.

check the classified section. Sony is crap. Look into Ascendant Audio. Very cheap and read great reviews. All the guys writing reviews on sonys on cardomain have no ****ing clue what a sub should sound like.

I have used Pioneer subs in the past with good results. I would stick with the amp I linked to above. You will not find a better amp for the price. It will match well with those Pioneers and leave you room to grow in the future. It will give those subs 600 watts at 2 ohms.

you can get a dei amp from ikesound pretty cheap 125 bucks. sony is redoing their car audio line. right now their specialty series decks are imo the best bang for the buck decks out and they are doing another high end deck to better the z-50 and c-90's. amps im not sure about. sony has probably spent more in r&d in the 90's than most companies have 80's, 90's 2000's combined they know what they are doing. when they slacked off with car audio it was purely a business decision not that the "couldnt do it"

500 watts doesn't isnt' that bad. Your electrical can probably handle it and they will stomp those sony's into the ground for almost the same price. Frankly, I wouldn't use the S's, the type R is definetly the top budget sub in there lineup. As far as amps, just becuase you picked a alpine sub, you don't need a alpine amp. Most of the time many companies tend to excel in creating one type of product (sub,hu,amp, etc) so mixing and matching is usually the best bet.
