which amp would be better?

Alright, which of these two amps would be better for these dual Kicker CompVR's : the KENWOOD KAC_8152 (550 rms) or the KENWOOD KAC-9102 (850 rms)? The specs of the subs say that they can handle 300 rms each and 600 rms total. If that is the case, which amp would be better? Would the 850 rms be too much and blow the speakers or would they hold up just fine?

I say go with the bigger amp. It's always good to have plenty of power to play with rather than just enough. The amp may be more than it's rated, but you just don't have to set it as high.

id say stay away from kenwood. they are known to over heat

have to disagree, kenwood is good, my friends had one for 4 years and never got very hot, but go with the higher one incase u upgrade ur subs in the future

kenwoods are fine, i just wouldn't run it at 1 ohm whether or not it's rated for it

Kenwood is good in my opinion. The only time I hear about those things overheating is when they are wired at 1 ohm and what not. Otherwise I have to say they are a good amp. My friend has the Excelon and that thing is real nice. You wont go wrong with a Kenwood, but for sure go for the bigger amp. In the long run you will be happy if you ever change to bigger subs or something.

i agree with upping the power. I had my CVRs off a PA 3000@2ohms w/o problem. being overrated and off stock electrical system not sure what i was pushing to them but sure it was more then they are rated for.
