which 5 channel???

Trying to power 4 speakers and my old Eclipse 88120 aluminum sub, but really trying to save space. Any suggestions on a 5 channel without breaking the bank? The JL 900/5 looks sweet, and really hits the spot with 500rms for the sub, but that price is killing me.

Is there anything that will decently run my system for much less money?

I'm running some focal's in the front and some crappy sonys in the rear... I know.. mishmash...

Polk Audio D5000.5 or Kenwood XR-5S. They provide the rated power with low noise signal and good THD according to tests I have seen. They're very small, but Polk is a little longer and narrower. Polk as the power and ground connectors on the opposite side from the RCA and speaker wire connectors, while Kenwood has all connectors on one side. I think their online prices are about $350 or less. The Alpine PDX-5 v9 looks interesting, but it's a lot more expensive and there haven't been any reviews yet.

Most of those hardly save any space, and the prices in the links seem pretty lame.

For example the BA GTA-1005 also out of production and was replaced for GTA-1105. GTA-1105 is also probably out of production because BA is getting out if business. The BA-1105 can be had for $210 with some online deals.. however it is opposite of space saving.. For less than $339, one could buy the Class D polk I mentioned.

Onto the Massive Audio NX5 series that someone mentioned, they look interesting. However, they're overrated by a nice fat factor. I have seen formal tests and user reports.. I have seen a test that shows the NX4 provides 4x60watts RMS power instead of 4x100watts claimed. I really don't like companies that twist the product specs in such way. Also the full range section is Class A/B. With such small amplifier size, it better be installed on a flat surface, horizontally, with good air circulation around it. Here in Texas last year we had like three months of constant 100F heat on daily bases. Even properly installed A/B amplifiers with large heat-sink would overheat on regular basis.

lol to me most of those are saving space not like the jl but still not very big except the BA. but the only thing i posted that is heavily priced is the arc all the rest are right with the polk and kenwood pricing that u mentioned, at least for what i found.

Wow. That Alpine PDX-V9 looks awful tempting. Ebay's got it for 420 shipped.

Those old school amps are tempting too, but I've had enough bad experiences buying used stuff to take the risk of wasting 200 bucks. Now if it were 50 bucks... that'd be a different story.

I just got an NX5 and I really like it.

I feel it does rated. I dont have a way to measure it but it does sound better than the rockford p4004 it replaced. Has more midbass and the tweeter is smoother.

The sub channel deff does rated.

How can you "feel" if it does the rated power? You can't. Only a formal test can tell. In a lot of cases, sending 50-60watts to speakers can be adequate. I don't have a problem with 4x65watt full range amplifier.. but I don't like when companies twist their specs like this.

Have you tried one yourself?

I have ran many amps from many many companies and this amp is actually a nice amp.

It deff does more than the 63~ watts per channel that Russian site published.

Over rated.
There is an Eclipse XA5000 thats under rated in the classifieds for like $200.
Have you ran one yourself?
