Which 5 channel to use?

I am putting a simple setup in my wifes car. I have the choice of buying an MTX Pro 400x5 http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/archive/pro400x5.cfm or for an extra $20 I can buy a Directed 600/5 http://www.drdetailshop.com/d600-5.htm

So the Directed claims a bit more power, however that doesn't mean it is better. The rest of the feature sets between the 2 are similiar. Does anyone have real world experiences with either? I have never bought an MTX or Directed AMP before. Let me see which way the majority would go.

Any particuliar reason besides the power output?

I just noticed that the MTX has 18DB crossovers, while the directed uses 12DB. The MTX claims a higher damping factor as well, but doesn't seem to list the damping factor of the sub channel seperately like they did for the directed.

I say directed because it has more power, is a pretty good brand, and the features are almost alike, therefore 20 bones for the extra wattage is worth it in my book. As far as the crossovers... it's not going to make that huge of a difference.

I think your wife would notice the extra power moreso than the steeper slopes...

i say definately the directed, i just got the 700/6 refurbed from ikesound for 125 and it is an awesome amp especially for what i payed for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you cant go wrong with directed.

I'd still go with a pair of separate amps (class D for sub and class A/B for mains, for example). You get more versatility and options for system or vehicle changes later on down the road.

Not necessary for the wifes car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif My setup will always be seperates. For her this will carry over from car to car and suit her fine.

Thanks for all the input, it is looking like directed is the choice.

Even better yet I found someone selling a Directed 1100D5 Which has quite a bit more than either of these choices. I was wondering if $225 shipped for it sounds like a good deal?

OK, I paid for the 1100D5. It's on its way to me. The specs on this are monstrous. The sub channel is stable to 1 OHM and puts 600RMS out @ 1 OHM. I know it's not a lot of power to most of you with your serious setups, but for a 5 channel all in one amp, thats pretty good power. Definitely more power than I need in her car, but it'll be nice to know it's there lol.

WOW!

This may not be a Memphis Belle, but for the price I paid on this amp it is very impressive. I love where the gain and crossover settings are and it has a lot of power. I tested it in my car and didn't noticed too much difference between it and the 2 amps I use(RF Power 800a4 and Power 800a2). It is stable to 1 ohm on the sub channel. I rewired my d4 HE2s to a 1 ohm load and hit had no problem hammering on them for an extended period. This is way more amp than I needed for the project its going in, but for the price I couldn't pass it up. The feature set, power, and flexibility make this a great one unit solution.
