Car setup now...wife says ditch an amp, get 5 channel.

pioneer ts a1720c front comp

pioneer 4" 2 way rear fill

10 single sub pioneer

amps.

alpine mrp f250 40x2 rear fill, 100x1 sub

blaupunkt 2x75 front comps.

Sounds good.

Replace 2 amps with a single....

Note: the front comps sounded ok on the alpine at 40, but much better on teh blaupunkt at 75...

Give me your feedback personal experience with any of these. I'm not looking for huge sound, just enough that at 70 with the top down it sounds good...right now my current amps are more than enough for me.

Still doesn't help me with packaging though. 4 channel. so i could get 2 pdx....but that's clearly not in the budget for this car....1 really isn't...

Check out the PDX-5, Rockford Power 1000, Memphis Belle. Ive used both the Memphis and the Rockford. They are probably way out of you're budget though. I liked the Rockford better because of remote bass knob and 0awg inputs. The rockford is physically larger than the other 2 I mentioned. Overall the Rockford and Memphis sounded the same though.

the pdx 5 channel is my vote. not nearly as space consuming as the rockford or belle

Well thanks for the ideas. 200 ish budget here though.

There's enough room under the carpet for a single, relatively large amp.

sure the pdx is nice and small. I can fit 2 of them in there, maybe, but can't afford to do that, or even the pdx 5.

2 regular sized amps won't fit, hence the problem i'm in.

Remember, with car audio, its always better to get what you have in the back of your mind than to settle for less! Saves $ in the long run!

the other problem is i turn cars over every year or so. So not excited about putting big money into a system that the next guy will get. It's really not worth the hassle of uninstalling to me.

Best 5 channel hands down was the Directed 1200.5 I loved that amp and hate I sold it. It could be had for less than 220 new and it did 75x4 and the sub channel did 600 rms @ 1 ohm. Its pretty had to find anything that can compare to that amp

Have a look at some of the Pioneer amps. There are some nice amps in your price range. I've always found them to be pretty good bang for the budget buck.
