Where to get 1/0 wire?

FYI i am a certified welder for the past 12 years....

Welding cable (at least here in Hawaii's climate) corrodes at such a fast rate that is why it can be bought so cheap as the companies make money on return customers....

I just rather use audio cables in my car AUDIO set-up....

Just like I'd rather use a car audio speaker rather then an home audio speaker for my car audio.... i mean it CAN be used but is it OPTIMIZED to be used in car audio...

I think for daily people it wouldn't be such a big deal using welding cable.

But for SQ/SPL/DB drag competitors... EVERY single volt and db counts...

Just so I don't get PM'd all the time.. You can get Kicker wire for a wide range of prices. $2-$6 and everywhere in between.... Most of the time you will find people selling partial spools for $3.00 and under, or you can get in on group buys for less. If you find it for cheap, get it.

so my welding wire is the only one that doesn't corrode? sweet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I will say all welding wire isn't created equal. I have some welding cable that I bought locally, that crap is so freakin stiff I never used it, running it woulda been a *****. Copper is copper, but how its used changes from manufacturer to manufacturer. So all "welding cable" can't be lumped in the same category.

well weldingsuply is the shit. my amp reads a constant 14.5 volts and still does. paid like $0.99 a foot for it.

*shakes head*

if you think your wire is not corroding at this very second your awfully ignorant..

In my CLIMATE copper (while their resistance to atmospheric corrosion is good) tends to corrode at a faster rate due to EXACTLY what has been mentioned.. the shielding...

I am NOT saying that copper itself in any car audio manufacturers wires corrode at a SLOWER rate than welding wire.. what is KNOWN is that the shielding used on welding wire is far LESS superior to car audio/marine wires. WHICH subject it MORE to atmospheric corrosion (whoops let me be politically correct MOST high end audio wires)... PROVEN FACT IS Uninsulated/Poorly insulated copper wire will oxidize over time when exposed to air/water/humidity. Insulated copper wire that is well sealed seems to be protected from this but not totally corrosion free. better shielding YIELDS a SLOWER corrosion rate it DOES NOT ELIMINATE/PREVENT IT ENTIRELY. So called oxygen free copper is not 100% free of oxygen, but it's oxygen content is reduced compared to ordinary wire. I am not even sure if the welding wire is OXYGEN FREE ??....

It is safe to ASSUME that corroded wire is degraded and can actually increase resistance compared to non-corroded wire (i have not tested it but i am sure it has been tested).

Copper takes years to corrode NOT weeks or months.... BUT the truth remains tested tried and true YOUR welding wire (with it's shielding) will corrode BEFORE a JACKETED PVC covered wire will....

Obviously you use welding wire (AND SHOCKINGLY SO DO I SINCE I GET IT CHEAPER THEN ALMOST ANYONE HERE) but the fact remains I KNOW the limitations of my wires and just cause i use them i'm not gonna be ignorantly blinded by it's disadvantages.... Same scenario as always gotta nut hug the stuff you use... I get like that as well...

whoops political correction again MOST welding wire are shielded inferior to high end audio wires... some welding wires we use for marine and boat welding have PVC jackets for longer life... OOPS even the makers of the welding wire use different shielding ? Gee i guess they must KNOW something or two about shielding copper wire..

FYI .39 cents a foot through my company 1/0

.59 cents a foot 2/0

Only hitch is we can only buy 25' a year (to avoid ebay selling LOL)

Haha, nice job stealing my idea Tuan...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

To bad you werent the original one who started the kicker wire group buy.

Bout 2 months two short

corroded or not, my amps are still seeing a constant 14.5 volts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
