You do realize that the quote you posted does absolutely nothing to support your claim, and actually supports the point helotaxi and myself are making...don't you ?

He talks about how clipping an amplifier might alter the sound produced between two amplifiers.....a measurable and identifiable cause. Clipping would obviously show up in the distortion measurement helotaxi and myself have pointed out numerous times in this very thread.

So again I ask you to show me where there are unmeasurable, unquantifiable differences in amplifiers that will alter the "sound" of an amplifier as you suggest ? Please explain how we are NOT measuring what he will hear ?

Is there an a data base of actual specs for amps ... eg. AMP GUTS but with actual measurements? If there was we would actually be able to make educated decisions based on the science not hype...

If I'm looking for something particular I usually hit up carsound and CA&E to see if they have any test reports on a product.

Same thing here, I wonder about bias when they do there comparisons though, not that I should give any weight to their thoughts.

LOL....yeah, I only every look at the objective part of their article (measurements) and skip their actual thoughts on the product. I would hope they have enough integrity to atleast not alter a measurement favorably/unfavorably.

You also have to look at the qualification of the specs that they test. Perfect example is the standard test that you see published for s/n. A lot of the measurements I've seen use full power and min gain. Proves that the amp makes power, nothing else. The more telling spec is 1 watt and max gain. That actually tells you something useful about how quiet the input stage is and how the amp will respond noise wise to a small signal at normal listening level.
