cause seriously noone else would buy car audio equipment if everyone on here didn't. CA.com is what keeps this industry alive, if it weren't for everybody buying second hand product this industry would be screwed!

You tell thoes basterds. Who's all with me. HAHA

just a strike for a year will teach them... make them respect us. i probably could've built my own house with the money i spent on gear....
No one would notice...I see no problem with someone making $300 of a set of components he has to pay the bills

However pm me on what amps you need, i can probably get you a deal.

You DIY guys think we as retailers owe you something.... we don't owe you anything, when all you do is complain about what we charge for something (in business it is known as building value into a product or service) Go to a mechanic and ask him to work on your car for free (or for less money) and see what he tells you. Better yet try to tell a car dealership that you think they should only charge you 20K for their 50,000 vehicle. (If you want quality products you will pay for for them that is how business is done.) Levi's over some wal-mart brand jeans, shopping for Nike shoes over some knock off brand, lexus or a kia, oakley's over the 5.00 swap meet sunglasses.

you guys act like Car audio is the only industry that does this... open your eyes and look around you will see companies and industries that are much worse.

And if jeff is only making less than $400 profit on a pair of speaker that retail at 999.00 then he is cutting you a deal. All of you seem to forget that there is tons of overhead for us to run our shops, and until you know the ins and outs of out day to day (which will vary from shop to shop and city tiocity, you have no clue, so you run a business if it's not a car audio shop it doesn;t matter what you think because you business is not our business and they do not run the same.

You cry about what some guy who owns a successful shop charges you, don't buy his gear but don;t bictch about his pricing, when the gas you run in that car just set record profits of almost 15 BILLION dollars for ONE company. and you probably pay 6 dollars for your Starbucks, and 2 dollars for a bottle of water.

But GOD forbid you pay good money for something of REAL value.

DIY'ers much like Competitors are a small group, the difference is that most competitors know if they want the best products they will have to pay more for them.

AS FOR RESPECTING YOU AS CUSTOMERS:

This whole thread is exactly why DIY'ers do not get "respect", not always and not everyone of you are the same, but when all you do is complain about how much we charge or how we do not want to sit and talk for 4 hours in our shops about product (that person most likely will never buy.) I love to talk car audio, and I am happy to help anyone who shows me and my company the same RESPECT they expect.

And finally in response to the comment about car audio going to "shit" because Brick and mortor comapnies are "Charging to Much" this is blatant ignorance.

We are not charging unfair pricing, as installers we are required to be skilled in multiple fields above and beyond simple auto repair.... yet a mechanics is charging on average $95-125 p/labor hr to plug in a machine and have it tell him what to fix on your car... he fixes it you pay and go on... we not only have to beable to diagnose and repair we must be able to find new ways to make thing work in your vehicle, integrate it in so that it is flawless for your operation, make it look like it came that way fromt he factory (or make it uber flashy and spectacular, all the while doing it in a way that someone else hasn't done before.) this now a days requires us to be mechanics, paint body, upholsters, wood workers and welders above and beyond eletricians. now on top of that, we work on all makes and models of vehicle, not just one make or model. we also have to beable to do it faster now then in past years, due to the average persons impatience. (this again does not apply to every customer)

The other reason "CAR AUDIO is going to shit is the **** internet *****s selling junk made out to be good stuff, or good products sold cheap and then no warranty to back it up giving customer a bad taste in their mouth for the products.

no.... car audio is going to s hit because jackasses like you try to make a fortune off every install. we don't give fvck that your business is slow. eventually the prices will drop and your busniness will fail. i'm glad to see this happen. there's no since in a shop profitting like hell off each purchase. in houston, tx you can get killer deals on high-end gear because they know we want pay msrp. why can't everyone else do it? because idiots like you constantly try to pull the wool over our eyes. i got out of the car audio business because of this. couldn't stand watching people get ripped the fvck off by jackasses like you.

i hope some jackass breaks in your store and steals everything you got and then the insurance company doesn't pay for sh!t. ask jeff smith... that's what happened to him. atleast he would look out for us diyer's...

You do have a very valid point and thats why I get so pissed when I try to sell shit for a reasonable price and people ***** that it is way to high. I paid for the quality of the product and I purchase these items because they are quality and not shit. If you want a quality item them you are going to have to pay for it. Plain and simple

Houston has the most saturated car audio market in the nation because of transshippers on Harwin street washing dirty money by selling electronics. They dont have ot make one single cent off any product they sell, they are there for other reasons. And good luck finding a quality shop with knowledgeable installers, probably 1/20 stores has someone respectable, there are/were a few good shops but the majority of them are flea market expresses with parking lot installers doing hack work. Thats really what we need more places like that.

Well you should understand that with having your own shop the money you make off prodects only covers all your over heads and the only real profit you will make is form installs. See with chain stores they charge more for audio products than mom and pop shops do, but charge less for installs

I don't know whether Hertz allows shipping of their product, but, you could ask Don (6spdcoupe). He deals both audison and hertz. If he cannot ship, he can suggest something that will be as good if not better. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hertz can ship.

I got my ESK165's shipped right to my door.

EDIT:: I'm sorry, but a $400 dollar profit is ridiculous. If you're making upward to 40% or more PROFIT for an item, it's ridiculous. I believe in a 10-20% profit.

I'm with you there. You take your car to a mechanic and you have to pay 80-100 dollars an hour just for them to plug it into a machine and say "oh well you have a loose wire that'll be 180 dollars to fix it. i mean come on. there's so many things an installer has to do to make sure everything is right when working on a car. i mean does it cost the mechanic 80 dollars worth of electricity to plug in that computer? i don't think so. companies like zapco who don't warrenty stuff bought off the internet do it for a good reason to help the stores that sell their product. the gas example is a great one. OPEC stopped production because the price of gas was gong down. just so they can increase the price back to where it was so they can continue to make the 15 billion dollars in a quarter more then projected. you gonna boycott them too? the way america is based you have a choice to buy something or not if you don't like the price then fine don't buy the product. if you do buy the product from someplace else and the company won't warrenty it it's not the company's fault they have their rules and they go by them. i mean come how much do you think walmart paid for that pair of pants or that bag of potatoes? you get what you paid for. that's the plain and simple truth.

I dont know about others but after seeing that from either a hertz dealer or hertz audio.. I dont know who they are, Im not to anxious to buy anything from them. I dont care if we mean anything to you but you dont have to be rude.
