where the hell do you ground your amp?

Hell, I dunno where I got the impression that it was a truck at. Drill a hole man, just don't hit the gas tank!

alright...i ended up grounding my amp to the metal on the top of my trunk...all my wires are connected, NOTHING! the amp turns on when i turn my radio on, but i'm not getting anything from the subs...(they are turned on on the radio...)

why would my amp turn on, but send nothing to my subs? would a bad ground cause my subs to not work at all?

i connected my sub straight...dual coil, so coil 2 negative to coil 1 positive, then coil 1 negative to amp neg, coil 2 pos to amp pos...(2-channel amp, just used 1 channel) the RCA's are plugged in to both my HU(at the sub slot) and my amp. tried a different sub too(single coil, same thing...)

when i turn my radio on, all the speakers work, the amp turns on, but nothing to my subs??

plz help

I couldn't find a really suitable grounding location in my car's trunk either so I improvised.

I took a drill with a wire wheel on it and removed all of the paint from the tie-down bracket for the spare tire under the trunk floor.

Then with a common bolt, flat washers, and a nut I bolted the ring terminal to the bolthole in the tie-down bracket.

I then had this whole affair welded on so that it would never come loose. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

The cable running to that main ground feeds a distro and the distro feeds all the stuff that needs grounding in my trunk.

As far as no signal from the amp to the subs...what HU are you using and what amp are you running?

there is a blue/white wire coming out of my HU...i ran a blue wire from my amp, to the HU and connected it at both...i dont think it would turn on otherwise...considering it only turns on once i turn my radio on.

also, my RCA's are in right, my power-wire is, and my ground IS connected, probably not the best connection, but nonetheless it is connected.

the only other thing i could think of would be that i wired the subs wrong...but i dont see how i could **** up a single-coil RF p2 wiring(i figure why **** up my own subs when i have my buddys to **** up lol)...negative to negative, pos to pos...

my fuse at the battery is still good...would my amp still turn on if i blew one of the 2 30amp fuses it has?

there is only 1 set of RCA's on the amp...3 on the HU...F, R, and S...so i figured S meant subs...and put them in that one...

one RCA is white with a RED band around it, the other is Blue with a BLACK band around it...so i put the one with a red band in the white slot, the black band in the red slot?? am i backwards?

how the hell do i use that thing...i set the dial to the V with the wavy line over it, clip the black onto NEG and RED onto POS??
