i may be asking a noobish question here and may get one of the first noob stickers ive had in quite some time, but im going to ask anyhow. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

anywho, i got this oem amplifier here which although i have yet to test it, i have already got the right wiring harness i need and have even got a wiring diagram of the specific plug im worried about here. only ting is that i dont see a remote or "turn on" lead anywhere. any ideas?

this makes no sense, there has to be a remote input somewhere, otherwise wouldn't the amp be inoperable? I'm thinking the so called "mute input" is it, it is worth a try anyway, I have never heard of a mute input anyways. And what are 4, 5, and 6's purposes, are those some sort of connection input/outputs on the amp or is it something on the graph only?

pins 4, 5, and 6 are there on the amp, but im guessing they just arent used. im as confused as you are on that one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

anyways, i did come up with another site that, although for another oem amp, may just answer the question. still all speculation here.

Where can I find a remote turn on for the amplifier? The Monsoon amp doesnt have a remote turn on. It senses current from the speaker inputs to turn the amp on.

its an oem for amp pulled from a '95 windstar. i dont have the model number offhand and there really is no info about it online other than 1 or 2 sites selling it (for $200+. i made out and got it for $25 shipped off ebay //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif ).

theres actually 2 plugs on it. the one posted above and another square plug with 8 pins in it. but from my understanding, that other plug is simply the audio input section, as the wiring harnesses i have seen showed RCA connectors coming of that plug.

I think some amps get turned on through the speakers as soon as there is current running through..... Like I said "I think"... I am not sure if I read it somewhere or heard someone talking about it!

hmm. well, i cant do any testing with it right now to see for sure. but i appreciate all the help guys. much better doing this than wiring the whole system up and turn out i dont get jack out of the speakers.

also, for those curious why im going through this mess is because ive currently got a carpc project in the works (shameless plug goes to mp3car.com //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif ) and im planning on going with a headless setup so i would need an amplifier in the mix. rather than going out and paying a small fortune for a 4 channel amp and having it be much more powerful than i need (and possibly blowing out the factory speakers), i just decided to go the oem route since its already designed around the speakers and wiring already in the car and it will fit my needs just fine. plus, as noted above, it only cost me $25. bargain baby! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
