where do you guys get your mdf?

home depot - prices may vary though. In Indiana it was about $16 somethin and in Wisconsin here it's about $20 for a 4x8' sheet of it. They usually carry 3/4" or 1/2", and sometimes 5/8".

ok, so about 50 or 63 cents a square foot. Is 4x8 the smallest you can get? cause I would really want 2 1'x1' @ 1/2" and 2 1'x1' @ 3/4". I realize I could just get like 2'x1', but I have nothing that'll cut it.

so after going to 2 different home depots, neither have MDF. went to a third and 4'x8' was the smallest they would let go of. So I'd have to buy 32ftsq of 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch when all I want is 2ftsq of 3/4 and 1/2 inch. Even though it was $16/$20 for .5/.75, I really don't have room for 60ftsq of wood just to be sitting around in an apartment with 5 people (let alone the equipment I've bought for CA).

Pete, the only shop I know of...well niether of us have reputations with one another so that one's out the question. I suppose I could go to other ones, but to me it just seems odd going to a shop and asking for wood...

If that don't work, I guess I'll just have to take apart something that's made of wood that I don't think I need //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

ok, 4 shops and only 1 makes boxes. And they aren't willing to sell me what I want at a considerable price ($10 for 1 1'x1' 3/4" board...please!)

so I'm just gonna buy the 4x8 sheet this weekend. oh my parents are gonna kill me!!!!

Between now and the end of the week I plan on making 1, maybe 2, boxes. If you want I can hook you up with some peices. I can cut them for you. I only use 3/4" though. Let me know if your interested. Shipping shouldn't be that much since I'm just across the state line.

so I call home depot and they say the only size you can get is 4x8. so I go there ready to buy a bigass sheet of wood, and what do I see? 2x4 MDF. They don't even know what they have...I got 1/2inch thick for $5 and some change. When the 4x8 costed $16 and is 4 times as much wood as 2x4, that should mean that the 2x4 is one fourth the price...$4. So I'm not really losin that much...

And now that I got my drill, saw, grinder, and mini rotary tool, I think I'm set...However, the drill runs off AC and I'm out on the street...doubt there's any outlets around...would I be fine hookin up my DC->AC adapter in the car and pluggin into that? Probably'll have to have the car runnin.

Move down here! j/k;) NEVER DO THAT!
At the Home Depot here, sheets are 2x4 $6.50, 4x8 $11.68.

1st cut is free, each additional is $0.25.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
