Where do the good Phoenix Gold amps end and crappy begin?

oh I see.....now its cause the local installers dont sell it.............

If I had to rely on local sellers for anything then I would be broke and running around with some Sony crap in my car thinking it was good....

I cant believe you base that idea on what the local installers are selling....

I have had the PG stuff and almost everything else ...I still prefer older stuff ...why ? cause I cant get good stuff from my "local installers" ...if its any good than its like 2x the going rate off the internet...

speaking of internet.....

You can buy nearly anything off the net cheaper than the brick and mortar places and it has nothing to do with quality.....it has to do with money...

it costs a lot more to have a brick and mortar place than it does to set up shop on the net....we are lucky for the net , as it has allowed most of us to get things we might not be able to afford otherwise...

Fact is PG was one of the last few out there who pioneered the stereo scene and made quality gear......they were still doing so until they finally put themselves in the situation that they had to sell..............

was their stuff junk? NO.....have you sean the insides of a Xenon? I would put that up against anything I can go and look at locally any day of the weak....

I am not an expert but I have been into this stuff for 24yrs and I have seen and researched a lot of things when it comes to amps...

to base anything off whether or not it is being sold at the local shop is retarded...

like I said....I cant find anything I would spend my money on at the local shops unless I want to spend a months worth of salary on it and make some ignorant salesman ritch....

not buying your reason......

To the guy who posted originally.....do some reasearch before you make a choice...

its not just that simple as the other guy likes to make it sound..........

If you want to know from people who actually own PG stuff and everything else then go to the PG forum and ask....they will glady help you......its not just cause they like PG stuff cause they also collect and use all kinds of quality gear...

Ive got a xs4600 that has 2 blown channels now. It also used to go into protect after being ran hard. However it was in a small trunk (convertible camaro with luggage), so it probaly got hotter than it normally would.

I just re-read your post...sorry .....but what do you sell now? since you dont sell PG anymore?

maybe you dont sell anything....my point is that your statements are rather vague and not very informative...

reallity is that the PG stuff since 97 is not junk.....it just wasnt cheap enought to mass market along with the other real junk at Best Buy and CIrcuit City.....

It cost more to make a better product and if it cost more to make then it cost more to buy which means profit margins go down.........the local shops these days could care less about what they sell as long as it makes them a killing......

I laugh evertime I see some smo talking about dropping a grand for his Sony system that he just got at Circuit city.......

like I said ...doesnt hold much water.........

I am off my soapbox for now...yeah I am speaking my opinion but I have seen or used or owned jsut about everything made on the planet and have been paying attention longer than some of you guys have been breathing oxygen.....

I have yet to get my hands on a Xenon, but with the exception of the Octanes, you can't go wrong buying PG. Also, I agree with GENTLEJAX, to make your whole statement off of why local installers don't sell........... You really don't know anything about car audio to be an installer. Why sell a good product at a margin close to what you pay for it as a shop owner, when you can go and get some marginal stuff and sell it for about 250% of what you pay for it? It's a shame but that's how shop retailers think and make money. I refuse to pay a shop $700 for some subs that I can go and get off of the internet for $200, just to keep a MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY......BlOW ME. I can go and get my SQUARE TRADE WARRANTY, and get the same long *** wait time if something happens to my amp or sub and need to be repaired or replaced.

In 2001 Phoenix Gold became less desired at the amp and sub level. Their processors and signal line drivers have not changed since the late 90s...
all I have to say to this is....

why have I decided to use xenon amps in my car now, when I have a PG ms1000ta, PG SFAS, and 2 PG ms275s ????

PGs high end lines.....

US MADE: MS, MQ, MPS, M, ZPA, ZX, ZXti

Asian MADE: Xenon, RSd

rest are lower level and not close to the higher end lines....except t1200.1

WRONG
the class a/bs RSd amps > then class a/b tantrum amps

RSd is Xenon replacement....Basically RSd amps are the same as xenon w/o all the nice features of xenon.
Depends on how you look at it. Im sure pg will have another higher end line to be over the rsd line. Thats why i say that..

Well I've got a "junk" Octane that's running at 1ohm powering a 15" Q and it's working fine. PG tech said it was 1ohm stable, but they don't advertise it, so they won't warranty it. No biggie as it powers the sub nicely and was reasonably priced.

Saturday morning...and I still dont have anything more to say cause I am STILL more interested in Oben's Avatar.......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a little irrritated last night till I saw that avatar....now I am fine...
