When you put a new HU in a car, where does the stock one go? What do shops do with them? Are they worth any money or are they just junk?

I usually keep mine because I install myself and then sell it. Alot of places do sell them after installing for a customer. Many customers keep them.

up my old honda deck goes on ebay. Been sitting in the closet for like 5 years.

Many stock decks go for a decent amount of money on ebay because of people trying to sell their car but want to keep the aftermarket deck. If it's Honda, make sure you have the unlock key. My stock Acura deck won't accept the key and it's useless now that it was taken out.

We have a huge collection of old stock HU in boxes in the attic of the garage. Probably close to 15.

The shop I used to work at just threw them all in a bog box, didn't do anything with them, really.

I'm hangin on to my Acura deck because it's a 6 disc Bose and will either be sellable or worthwhile to re-install if I need to.

I hang on to mine to put back in when I sell the truck. Though, this time I have to buy new door panels or cheap components, whichever is cheaper.

Uh its not the shops property...so you should get it back. As mentioned, price depends on the unit. I know I sold my old Bose deck out of my grand cherokee for like $125. I think it is like $350 if you get one from your jeep dealer.
