I am planning to upgrade to a sundown 3500 amp and two ia dp's. I already have a jl 300/4 running my components. How many extra batteries will I need. I know about the big 3 and I know I will need a ho alt. Im just not sure about the batteries. I drive a 97 lincoln town car with a stock 140 amp alt. Also is there a formula that tells me how many batteries I need according to the size of my amplifier. Thanks in advance.

My question is how many batteries do I need to run a sa3500 amplifier
Adding batteries will only help on the short term. If your amplifier can pull a few hundred amps it will greatly out pull what your alternator can put out and if your alternator is too weak to keep the batteries decently bulk charged you will need to do a lot more maintenance keeping them charged or keeping your listening habits in check with the SoC of your batteries.

Which is why I was telling you that you probably will not see 140amps out of your alt
