when is bracing needed?

I'm gonna throw 2 12's in a 2.7 cu.ft. box, and i'll be feeding it around 1000 watts. Do you think I'm going to needed internal bracing for the box, or should it be fine? (i'm going to make it out of 3/4 in mdf).

If you recommend bracing, let me know how you guys brace your boxes. I've never really seen it before, i'm not really even sure exactly what it is, pics would help.

2.7 cubic ft. You should use bracing. Is the enclosure sealed or ported? Slot port or round.

Slot ports add support to the enclosure. Round ports do not. If this box is sealed need to brace.

its a sealed box...i really wanted to go ported, but couldn't fit it comfortably in my trunk.

there is a good bracing tutorial on jlaudio.com if will come up.

I like to use 3/4" x 3/4" oak stock for bracing.

Just use some small peices of 2x4 works well, or an outer ring along the inside of the box

What subs you putting in there? Is each sub in its own chamber? If so, 3/4in mdf should be thick enough to not need bracing. Then again, it doesn't hurt to throw a dowel rod or 2 in there for support.

besides ur not gonna notice it that much anyway, u would only need it if you where trying to squeeze in a couple more db's

The subs are treo ssi, but only feeding them 500 watts a piece. They will have seperate chambers, but one wall is going to be shared. So, from the outside it will seem as though its just one box, but from inside it each will have its own seperate air space.

I think I am going to go with bracing technique "C" from this ( http://www.jlaudio.com/tutorials/bracing/index.html ) website, which ameduece refered for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif . It's basically triangles in the corners. It actually seems easier to do than the other ones, althought the website says different. I'm assuming i do only 4 corners per chamber, top/bottom and both sides...nothing in the rear, right? Also, using the same 3/4" mdf would be fine, yes?
