razor blade, lighter and a hammer can remedy that.Okay thanks! I'll try and get on that, i need a wire crimper and i am flat broke.
If you set your gains when the amp is at 14.4 and then it drops down to 12 the amp has to draw more current to create the same amount of power. more current mroe heatzI fail to see how voltage drop could hurt anything...
Bottom line is the sub is getting too much power. lower your gains or get more powerfull woofers.
forget clipping...
You're about to blow them son. period.
My advice is to keep pushing till they pop !

clipping is too much power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gifTo the guys who said they don't know how clipping is a factor - do you actually know what clipping IS? OF COURSE IT WILL CAUSE HEAT! If I have to explain it I will, but I really don't want to do that unless it's necessary. Heck, you can figure it out yourself if you have an oscope... just watch as the ends of the signal wave get "clipped".
Anyway, if clipping is ruled out, then you can bet too much power is the problem... But I would put my money on clipping first, since that appears to be the problem at least 75% of the time that this comes up.
