When i play really hard hitting song my cone gets hot and i can smell the coil a lil?

sometimes, itll be the glue on the coils but if it happens alot then your amp is set up wrong and its clipping. clipping is the main source of your sub getting hot and smelling generally

clipping came to your ride, disrespected your subs

first thing i would do is make sure the hu and amp does not have any bass boost on. if so, turn them off. if they are off then turn the gain down on the amp a little.

do your lights dim? even so make sure the amp has a good power and ground connection, check the voltage going to the amp when its at that point. 13v minimum. usually with my rs i ran up to 1k each and as long as they are still getting louder when you turn it up they will not smell. its when they stop gettting louder turn it down a few notches

sell the alpine amp and use the cash to get a 2k amp

At the battery the voltage goes down to 12.5 and at the amp it goes down to like 11.8 the ground is good and thats when i have it up , i need to do the big three though.

you found ur problem ur voltage is dropping too low. do the big 3 and make sure ur under the hood battery is good. with a 1k rms amp you only need 1 battery. to keep ur equipment happy keep ur voltage above 12.5volts......

I agree with SPL audio, your voltage drop is likely to be the culprit here. Go do your big three, you should notice a difference. I don't think 12.5 volts is enough though, I wouldn't let the volts drop below 13 on a bad day... anything less than that is just asking for trouble. I play it safe though. Until you can do this, just listen conservatively.

If you are still having this problem AFTER that, then I would reset the gain.
