whats wrong???

ok i can hook my amp up and it all comes on fine and the light is green but when i hook my sub to both the channels the light goes red and then if i unplug the sub from the amp and shut my car off and turn it back on the light is green again untill i hook up the sub...what is wrong??

Maybe check your ohm load. First of all, what subs and amps do you have? You might have too low of a load, so that maybe one possibility of why your amp is going into protect.

Yes, check your sub wiring. Probably, wired incorrectly for the amp.

well i have a 1206d and a single 4 ohm mj-18 and i am just hooking the positive to the positive and the negative to the negative...oh and i also tried bridging it with one on each channel and it did it too

Use a multimeter and check the voice coils on the sub to make sure it's not blown. Also check final impedance as mentioned above.

Still could be the amp, though.

is there any way for me to tell if the amp is fried?? but i dont see how it could be if the light is green untill i touch the sub wires to the channels?

Have you tried a different speaker hooked up to the amp to see if it does it? Have you checked the coil with a multimeter to see if it reads as a short?
