What's wrong with this sub?

Just bought a nice reconed RE SX off fellow site member, Qbenjamin. Sub looks in good condition but tested the coils with a DMM and here are the funky results:

This is supposed to be a dual 2 ohm voice coil sub.

1rst voice coil = 2.4-2.5 ohms (stable)

2nd voice coil = 7-14 ohms (sometimes stable sometimes jump all over the place)

Wired paralell = 1.9-2.0 ohms (stable)

Wired series = 18-125 ohms (usually stable but different everytime i measure. was 18, 64, and even 125 one time i measured)

Hooked up to home stereo wired in series on the low channel and threw in 60hz tone. Can hear tone from the sub ok. Don't hear any scratching or rubbing.

What could be wrong with this sub? Loose wiring in one voice coil?! Did RE mess up the recone?

I didn't sell you a broken sub, I paid exactly $140 plus $19 shipping and handling straight to RE. I kinda got ripped at them as when they sent it back to me, it was still saying 5.2 on the second coil, and saying 2.2 on the other one. I have already told this guy that he would be gladly refunded provided that he sent it back. Kinda get's silly that I just got on here and see this. Funny part is that after it was re-coned and sent back to me, I tried it out on my Surround Sound, and after about ten minutes of play, the sub read normally. I dunno why it reads weird when cold, but nonetheless, this guy has been told that once he sends it back, his money will be refunded upon receipt.

And for your concerns via PM, it's koo that you were getting worried that you got burned, but I am not going anywhere. Send it back if you do not want it.

Ok, the sub reads normal if it's not cold, like Qbenjamin said. Hooked it up to stereo for a min and after that each coil was around 2.1 - 2.5 ohm. Very odd.

I am in contact with Qbenjamin, I am going to test this on a car amp asap, and he has promised me a return if something is wrong.

Buyer has been issued a return label, and will be refunded upon receipt. I just lost about $50 in shipping charges total, but I will take that out on RE. Sorry about the mishap.

If the sub works in series then neither coil is opened up.

May not be anything wrong with the sub at all, just a weird DMM reading -- coils are inductors, after all, they have an AC component to impedance that can shift.

Did you test it hard or just a little bit?
