His email reply was a text book scam: "Im away from home. Perfect excuse to need your cash fast and not be able to meet you in person. Im legit". The easiest way to spot a conventional scam is to simply look for this routine, its very very common.
And yes, the same car for sale in Detroit now should be the final nail in the coffin, if you still had any doubts this was a scam. Does CList have a way to report scam ads? if so, someone should contact them about this guy.
