Ive been trying to narrow it down and recently spent 4hours on a road trip looking through the crutchfield magazine, comparing stats and looks and I seem to be leaning toward the Panasonic MXE CQ-HX2083U.

My question is what is the bad aspects of this head unit? it seems to be everything i am looking for.

Some people on this forum will argue that Panasonics arent very good but I can tell you from personal expereince that they are very good h/u's. Alot of the people that have problems with them complain about ease of use, like setting the fade, bass, treble, etc etc. But the new 2003 models arent that hard to use from what it looks like, considering those are all accessed from the volume knob. But IMO they are a very h/u brand and I would consider them as well as Pioneer, Pioneer Premier, JVC, Clarion, Alpine, Blaupunkt I think makes pretty good h/u's. Allthough I dont know anyone with one of them. But I think that Panasonic is a good choice.

Originally posted by mattj panasonic doesnt really have that many options when you look at decks in the same price range compared to others.
True, they dont have seperate band equalizers or anything else like that tho. But I think what they lack in options they make up for in quality and looks IMO. But I like flashy h/u's so disregard the looks opinion.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

As a matter of fact im lookin toward gettin a CQ-DFX403U when I get the money, it has CD Changer controls, three sets of preamp outputs, and whole bunch of other stuff like a wireless remote, day night detachable faceplate, SHD-B (super high definition bass) and some other stuff I cant remember right now.

There is nothing wrong with this head unit. I bought it and it kicks total *** dude. The features are limitless, and the colors, and videos are also limitless. The videos are in a high resolution and can play in any color imaginable. Also you can switch to about 8 different predertimined colors that flash with the beat. Finally you can also view these in what is called 'pattern mode' where it changes all different colors at different speeds. the menus are all easy to reach and get at, most are accessible from the main touchscreen (which dissapears after sitting for about 3 seconds) or from the tiny remote you get. Tiny is not a bad thing as it looks really sleek. It sounds pretty good too but for looks this is probably the best head unit on the market. The sound customization is pretty good and at 60x4 its pretty powerful too. There are a few downfalls to it however. First off it gets dirty pretty easy. im 17 and work with friers at a local bar and when i get off work i dont even think about touching it. It comes with a self cleaning cloth but your screen will get scratched over time. Secondly it is not much to look at during the day, although it does have adjustable dimmer settings, the brightest setting is tough to see during the sunny day, however at night there is no deck that compares. The videos also are great but have a downfall, as most are repitious. I personally thought it lacked a soothing video like pioneer featured with their swimming dolphins and slowly free falling parachuters. Your choices are truly limited to 2 car racing scenes (f1, and street racing) 2 sports scenes (snowboarding, biking) and a pretty cool space scene. Hopefully as technology grows future models of this can have downloadable movies onto the deck... wow.... hint panasonic, by the way i am accepting applications for your ideas department if you read this. anyways its a great deck, and for $500 you will definately get your share of visual appeal, no girl has stepped into my car without telling me how amazingly cool it is, or its the best deck theyve ever seen, its just that im a perfectionist and there is always room for a little more. If you think those videos sound appealing to you, and you want an extremely intuitive deck with alot of features and great sound this deck is for you... if you can take the $500 pocket punch

and i suppose ud also like to get laid by the comp winner than some hot blonde too, just playin man, but really it is a sweet looking deck and im a first time user of an mp3 deck, that feature totally rocks too
