monday leaving work my truck started and then immediately died. tooka few tries and then started. got home, turned it off and restarted. worked fine. tues morning a little issue and same yesterday leaving work. i dont remember this morning bc i was in a rush. anyway leaving work this afternoon andi unlock the doors using my key fob. well i try to start and nothing, nothing at all. then i realize no a/c, no radio no nothing. car completely dead. so ijiggle the wires on my battery and get power and try to start. immediatly drains power without cranking. this repeats several times. finally get it started wihle holding down the accelerator and once started if i let off the accelerator it starts to die. well i finally get out the parking lot, come up to a stop light less than half mile from work and my truck dies! on the street! get pushed off, and repeat the same steps and get it started. i manage to get to auto zone and they test my battery and alternator. both check good. car is a 2000 tahoe, 4wd 5.3 liter v8. starter was replaced about 6 months ago but taht wouldnt explain the no power issue.

anyone have any ideas?

they **** at testing alternators. Mines currently in the shop, i might have blown the engine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

alternator, battery, fuses

1) fuse blown for Alty, no charge

2) bad cell in battery, might charge and test right but wont hold it under load

3) bad alty or bat batt

You obviously have enough juice from the alternator for your car to run while it's a running speed (not idle speed.) Check your battery connections, I've had this problem before, and went over the wires I had redone (big 3), and my wires had come loose. It could easily be your alternator, since it's not supplying enough juice for vehicle to run at idle speed.

How the **** did you get it to start when holding the pedal. The PCM detects that and cuts off the injectors so the motor doesn't flood. Dry cycle mode.

Anyways. Sounds like a battery or a bad connection going to the battery.

i guess i should have been a little more detailed on that. sorry. i meant that after it started i pretty much just floored it to keep the engine at a high rpm, so it wouldnt die. i didnt mean like old time/a carbureted engine where you prime it by pumping the gas.

you ran out of blinker fluid. Add some.
ill try that today
