Whats wrong with my 2500d?

Alright I have a New Orion 2500D. I installed it in my geo storm with 0 gauge turning into dual 4 gauge for power. I have a good ground. Its wired to 1 ohm on 2 3515's in a wall. I previously had a coustic 600 watt amp and the coustic was louder then the orion. I dont even hear any sound untill the gain is 3/4 the way up. voltage was steady around 13 v.

So I decided to install it in my other car.

Installed it in my bravada on 2 12" memphis M3's. Had it wired to 1 ohm with power and grounds running straight to amp (fused of course). Same with this install. you dont hear anything at all untill gain is 3/4 of the way up. Mind you my head unit is on 40. Now with the gain all the way up and my sub set on +4 on my head unit it gets kinda loud but not what I would expect from this amp. and voltage doesnt drop below 14 volts in this car.

Any suggestions?

^^^ maybe thats your problem. did you check the output voltage (speakers terminals) with a DMM? and did you say that you have fuses on your ground wires?

X2. Check the AC on the speaker terminals.

no i dont have fuses on my ground wires. dont have a dmm right now but when I get one exactly what settings do i use and what should it read?

OMG. So you did not set your gains in the first place. Read the gain setting tutorial in the amp section.

do you have both power and ground wires in? I had the same problem until I hooked up 2 sets of each. Thats not the the strapping input, lol

yes i have both power and grounds in. I didnt set the gains with a dmm yet but its still not that loud with the gain turned all the way up. Im not a newb just never used a dmm.

Check your wiring configuration, then buy a DMM and test the AC voltage @ the speaker terminal...

Depends on your final load on the amp, or how much power you "want" to set it for...

You really need to read the gain setting tutorial, or you would know now.

im bettin that u have somthing messed up on ure wireing config.... that is what i would check.... 2500d should perform a hell of alot better then that.. for all u know its messed up and like running at 4 ohms or somthing

yeah, it should read whatever you want it to read. you can get a DMM from walmart for $20 (Schoshe) and it is decently accurate. the gain setting sticky has the formula to calculate your voltage #'s and this page will help you. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=143
