Especially if its motorized, those parts tend to break, it is a gamble. Also, if the owner didnt take good care of it cleanliness wise, it may be extra prone to skipping.
i know the chances of getting a used HU, but i was just wondering more of the wires or the installing.. i knew myself there wasnt anything BIG about buying a used HU, so i posted a topic to see what i should look out for just incase if im missing anything out but its all good now
I don't see anything wronge with a used one to start off with. I started that way in building my current system. Just remember you will at some point want to get a new one because it is your central command center for you to build off of. When I eventully got my new head unit, it made a tremendous difference.
