Whats the smallest Kinetik I could get away with...?

just got an 1800 installed up front with the BIG 3 done. I am running 2100 watts with no problems even at idle. these batteries are sick! just listen responsibly. with your already 200 amp alt I don't see why one 1800 wouldn't be enough. Unless your competing or listening to your music with the car off a lot...

It's due to how an alternator works that a single 1800 will not support 3500 watts. An alt reacts to load by use of the regulator. An electrical device, such as an amp, isn't going to send a signal to the alt and say 'kick up the amperage, I'm about to need it.'. The amp pulls what it needs immediately from the battery. Once the 'floating charge' on the battery dissipates and the voltage starts to drop, the regulator detects this and kicks out more amperage. Without this design you'd fry all your batteries and electrical system as your voltage would keep rising as the amperage the alt is putting out is not being consumed.

And transient hits in the bass can easily exceed 4000 watts on a 3500RMS system. An HC1800 would be begging for death with a split second hit over 4000 watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif This is why you need batteries that can fully support your sound system with no alternator. It'll prevent dimming and increase the life of your batteries and electrical equipment. While you don't see it on a volt meter, those transient hits can drop your voltage into the 9s or 10s for a fraction of a second if you don't have enough reserve capacity.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm one who doesn't listen full blast at all times, but I see the benefits of having more batteries. I just need to find a nice spot to put them!
