whats the right comp for ME (detailed thread)

2006 Grand Cherokee

6x9's in the front door

3 inch speakers up on the dash

i will spend up to $300 on speakers

and up to $300 on an amp

i need some midbass, the 18Q in 6.5 cubes is having a hard time in the 80+ htz range.

tweeters need to be loud and crisp, not too harsh

what is right for me.

at first i was thinking some SLC265s with maybe a USAmps from 6spdcoupe that does around 150X2 @ 4 ohms

i listen mostly to rap and the car is a lease so cutting up the doors / dash is a no no

well .. the SLC's are good choice .. but for me i havent heard any other speakers .. it always depends what u are looking for

my dad almost bought a jeep, and the speakers ****! why do they put 6x9s in the front doors thats stupid

so do you want to keep 6x9s in the doors or u gona put like a midbass in the doors and tweeters on the dash? i didnt quite understand what ur looking for

no i wanna do a 2 way comp set...do 6.5's in the 6x9 location and tweets up front to replace the 3"....which kinda jeep did he look at cause my stock speakers are too bad i think they are boston acoustic

no he didnt have the Boston speakers, it was just a stripped down jeep with the basics, boston is the upgraded version

Well for comps, Ill throw one out there cos i dont really have time to search for ya, but i like Focals 165 A1, 6.5 comps, its Focals like lowest line and they retail for like $280 but good enough for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Ive never heard Talib Kweli sound so good until i heard em on those Focals and an Audison amp that only did like 40x2 RMS lol

Sorry i wasnt too much of a help, i havent heard like Morel, or Rainbow, or even Boston lol, but i will hear some Bostons soon, a local shop is becoming a dealer of BA.

im leaning towards rainbow because of my proximity to 6spdcoupe and i could go to his shop and help with the install...only thing is im looking at getting a memphis belle for my whole setup...i think it does 280x2 @ 4 ohms...im wondering if that is too much for the SLC265's if i set the gains properly
