Ok im on alpines website right now and im looking at there type R's. The R's have two product numbers: SWR-1222D and SWR-1242D. Whats the difference between these and what should i go with. I dont have an amp yet so that can be purchased to match the subwoofers. i just dont know where to start...please help....and also on their webpage they say these were from 2005. Isnt their a new 2006 model?

2005 was the year the design was released. I don't think Alpine changed the design of the Type R this year due to high sales.

SWR-1222D = DVC 2 ohm version

SWR-1242D = DVC 4 ohm version

I you're getting 2 and need 1 ohm, get the DVC 4 ohm version. If you're getting 1 and need one ohm, get the DVC 2 ohm version.

what kind of amp do u have? if u wire them in parallel u will be able to run them @ 1 ohm stable which is what an amps peak wattage is at u need to be putting out atlest 2000 unless ur gonna underpawer them..... but if so there is no point in getting a sub u cant power
