What's the cleanest amp between 75-125 watts per channel past or present

i don't see how they're unnesessary and/or unreasonable requirements. I'm looking for absolute driver control and accuracy with the smallest amount of THD possible.

I forget the actual number, but isn't a damping factor in excess of 200 pretty hard to pick out via the human ear? Also, if you are running more than a couple of feet of speaker wire, isn't that damping factor highly reduced or negated by the distance of the wire?

I am just going off of memory here because I remember how certain manufacturers used to rate their amplifiers damping factor at the connector or circuit board, and it was MUCH lower on the molex plug or at the end of the speaker wire. Rockford Fosgate AND Orion come to mind.

I have a reference 700s and while it isn't a bad amp, it isn't as overbuilt as the original Reference 500! In fact, it is a re-badged Reference 500 that the design engineers modified to squeeze additional power out of while reducing cost. Gotta love it when company bean counters dictate maximum profit at the cost of a quality product:(

I'm not sure on the exact specs but I can recommend one amp that I have had good personal experience with.... and don't flame me for it.. A VR3 200 watt.. its stated as a 100x2 peak 50x2 RMS. my mother is using 2 of them to run her front stage and as long as you got decent speakers they sound great even at high volumes..

aAnyone that doesn't believe me let me know and I can take a video today to prove it.

Those are pretty arbitrary and unnecessary (and unreasonable) requirements.......
squeak, I understand your stance but personal preference has value, even if it isn't measureable.

2 identical apartments one looks at the buildin next to it, the other looks out over the city at the ocean. The better view is worth $, even though functionally they are the same.

He puts value on THD and Damp. therefore it has value, is reasonable and necessary.

something that is inaudible to human hearing is worth 3-5 times it's value? Don't get me wrong prestige is an alright thing but it is not absolute LOL. You can run JL, JBL, Kicker or MTX amps and still have a world class sounding system and what is even funnier it has already been done to the point of being dominant yet people still do not get the point that an amp out of just about EVERYTHING else in a system has the LEAST effect on how a system sounds.

Hell the old school Alpine V12's were VERY solid amps even though when you opened them up some looked about like helen keller put the coils in them.
