What's the better sub stage?

What do you guys think would sound better and get louder? I listen to a lot of rock music, so strong 50-80hz response is a must.

2 - HDC3 12's in 5cf

3 - SA-12's in 5cf

Both will be ran off of an AQ2200.

I think SA, but not 3 subs, but a pair would be a bit better in my opinion to get more /better ohm load out of that amp,2/4/6/8 subs Ideal in my opinion to get a good ohm load for the potential of an amp,as well as depending on the configuration,.But, I think a Pair of SA subs,would be my choice rather than 3,run @1ohm load rather than 1.6,with a pair of DVC4ohm subs

I think possibly so, with better CUft per sub, and ohm load.One more cone really seems not to make up for a properly cu ft box for a pair of subs.SA subs are some of the loudest subs out there.I didnt think so till I listened to them/seen @ Tx Heat Wave

Xfls are louder lol. And you can get d1 or d2 hdc3 so what are you referring to with ohm load?

Three d4's can be wired to .7. Not really a problem for this amp. I highly doubt two SA's would win out against a pair of HDC3's, but you're making me think that 3 could definitely be capable.

They are loud for being a 2.5" coil sub, but there are tons of tons of other subs that would destroy SAs.

Agreed. The allure of them here is the combination of their spl capabilities and the fact that they do so well in small boxes.

well a aq2200 isnt enough power for either setup ..hell that amp is barely enough for 2 sa12.s i think they would suit ur listening style better..but i wouldnt run 3 if u decide to go with the sa.s ...the hdc3 really need like 3500 on a pair to get moving

It moved my hdc3 10's just fine. I know they can take more, but that's what I'm working with right now. Why not run 3 by the way?

if your listening.to mainly rock why not go with 2 sq 12.s or 3 10 .s ..somethin to give u that good punchy bass and double kick pedal action ..as you wont need subs that dig down low ..just my .02 im sure somone will steer u in the right direction

because that amp is only big enough to get 2 sa12.s moving well

ive ran 2 sa12.s on 2saz1000 in 3.5 cubes but it was more spl rap decaf based wouldnt really recommend for yor listening style...they did a 145.5 btw

I listen to rap too, but def want something nice and punchy. Sounds like the HDC3's are the way to go. My tens were punchy as hell. I'm not really worried about power. I could always upgrade later.
