What's the best way to ship a subwoofer inside of an enclosure?

American wound coils :p

I'm having double 07 make me a box right now.

I still have to get the sub, big 3, and an amp.

Hopefully not, but a battery too.

I plan on running it on 2kRMS.
Make sure the 2k is clean (set with an o-scope) and you'll be fine. Mine are taking about 1200 each and screaming for more.

Depending on the amp and to really make the XFL shine, I'm thinking at least replacing the starting battery should be considered. Just talk to mylows. Sometimes he'll surprise you with the pricing he can do on equipment (AB, specifically).
I agree, replace your battery under the hood or simply add a second battery with an isolator. I'm going to be doing the latter soon

I don't have the money too haha.

Ummm what's an oscope? :3

Oscilloscope. Gives you a visual indication of the signal coming into the amp. Unclipped signals look like any normal sound waves. You'll be able to see any clipping long before your ears can pick up on it.

Really only need to worry about an isolator if you're going to be doing a lot of listening with the car off. Otherwise, it's more trouble than it's worth.
Unless you're putting in 2 identical batteries it's a good idea or one battery will constantly be putting a load on the other. I just bought a new wet cell battery about a year ago so it's a waste to replace it right now

Think you're a bit confused as to how an isolator functions TBH. I'd recommend pulling up a couple install guides for some of the popular isolators and seeing what connections go where. IIRC, the isolator only opens when the engine's not running. I could be wrong, but then again I'm an SQ. Total fusing between my two amps is only 80.

>$65Do you plan on buying it for me? That'd be like the best thing ever.
Lol just had my last CA-related purchase for a while, man. Have to start saving for child #2 on the way. Tell you what: if I upgrade my DMM, I'll send you the one I have now. Just pay shipping.

That's the cost of running a sub near its limits... Which is why I don't do that at the moment. I can throw some slightly clipped power at my XFLs with my current amp and be fine. But if you're nearing 2000w on a sub rated for 1000w, you definitely want completely clean power

I believe the one I looked at had a remote wire that signaled it to let power through. When the car is off the rear battery is the only part of the electrical system being used by your amp, and when the car is on it allows current through. Having 2 batteries parallel without an isolator causes the one with lower voltage to constantly draw from the one with higher voltage which is hard on both batteries. This is all from memory so don't hold me to it lol

Amen. This is also why reliable amps and the ones worth purchasing cost considerably more than the budget offerings that claim the same rated power.

Take it back. You found the right info. As long as you realize that if all you do is listen while the car is running, the isolator basically does you no good since it will always pass the current until you physically turn the car off and remove that remote signal.
