What's the best of the best?!

I need some help w/figurin out what to put in my car. I figured I'd come ask some ppl who actually know what they're talkin about. I need to know what's the 'best of the best' for amps, head units, subs everything. Gotta have that BASS ya know! I'm still just shopping around, but any help a.s.a.p. would be much appreciated!

just go ahead and buy 2 12 L5's alpine hu jbl1200.1 mbquart comp's and you'll be fine, lol

you should get shivas instead of l5's l5' arent that durable.......... shivas also have dual 8 ohm coils u can easilly paralell wire them down to 2 ohms and they handel 650 watts perfect for the jbl witch is under rated and put out about 1300 watts and there only 150 each

To answer what I forgot about, that you asked....

Yes, I'm looking for a complete system, something really good, but not over the top.

My budget doesn't really matter, as long as it's under $3,000.

I want my system to....well....sound good, esp. bass.

I'd give up as much room as I can for it.

And it'll PROBABLY go in a '98 Grand Am.

For subs take a look at Image Dynamics IDMAX @ http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com, RE XXX @ http://www.respl.com, Adire Audio Brahma @ http://www.adireaudio.com, Elemental K/A series @ http://www.edesignaudio.com. Take a look in the Subwoofers forum and see what appeals to you.

For amps...depends on the amp but the JBL 1200.1, MTX 81000D, RE 35-1D, etc...look at US Amps, Kicker, Tsunami, Autotek, Memphis, Zapco, Arc, etc. Again, check out the Amplifiers forum and see whats good and whats not in there.

Well, I didnt suggest Alpine Type R's because if you cant find them for under $125...dont even bother. Besides, there are way better products out there for equal or lesser price. Dont get wrong, the Type R's are decent - I used to run 4 15's - but IMO the others listed above are of better quality.

well said... hummmm isn't a w0 100 bucks though.... is the low end better on a w0 than on a type r or what about overall performance?

I like the Type R's better than the W0's...more durable and better power handling - 300w RMS opposed to 125RMS (although I'm sure they handle more).

hummm well remember that type r is alpine best sub and w0 is one of jl's lowest next to w1 & ib4's..... ......
