It's rated for 2250 rms... but like you, I have no idea how well it would do on higher power. The coil is 8 layer 3"s... not sure if it could handle being overpowered.
Depends on how much power you would put to the HDC4 18" They are monsters and can handle crazy amounts of power. That "2000rms" rating is a joke!
2 HDC's would be, not sure about the HDS, haven't messed with those yet

I don't suggest it for daily listening all the time, but there are people with double rms on them.

I really want the hdc4 18 but it ***** cause it either has to ram qt .5 or 2 and I cant find a good 2 ohm amp that pusjed 2-2.5k for 350 or less
Just get a 1500-2000W @ 1 Ohm amp and run it at .5 Ohm. Just make sure your electrical is up to par!
if i remember right ive heard of people with solid electrical being able to run hifonics brutus amps at .5 ohm. that is in your price range and should do about 3k at .5 ohm. just make **** sure your electrical is solid if you go with hifonics they are supppppper power hungry
