whats is a better design? 6-8 DD1508's trunk'd

Depending on the amp, most 5k amps can handle .66 which you could get from 6 of the d2's wired series/parallel. With 6 of those subs and 5k you should be able to break a 150 legal assuming the box is good. Option #2 would be my pick by far.

yup there a few 5k amps out there that can run .5 daily so .66 should be no prob..and burp at .33...also you can wire the d4s down to .66...wire 2 subs to 1ohm and 4 subs to 2ohm then parallel them to .66....or wire them all parallel to .33 for burps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

.66 daily? i was looking at sound digital but for .66 at all they seem like a bad choice what are my options in the

the lower i can wire the amp the better, im want to see about 900-1000Wrms to each sub and im planning for 6.

SD aren't the best amps for running low daily with. Some good choices in that range would be;

RD Audio D9 (down to .35 daily)

AB 500.1

Cactus 5k

Although any good 5k amp will probably have to be used to come in under $900. Check the classified on here, I picked up my D9 for under $800 shipped and it was BNIB.

Is your Alero a 2dr or 4dr?

We did 2 DD2510's in NickV's 4-dr, does 150.9dB w/ minimal testing in 3cuft w/ 4 4" areo's. Subs and ports forward, trunk not sealed. He has all his airbag stuff, amps, and batts behind the box. Peaks at 57hz, plug 2 ports and its very musical.

16.5t x 37w will slide right up against the seat and create a pretty good seal.

IIRC, 20d will fit in the trunk pretty easily also.

So, double baffled you have around ~5.35cuft gross to work and still have space behind the box and be able to pull it out.

If you have the 4-dr...try a box like this,

16.5"t x 37"w x 19.75"d....double baffle.

Subs on passenger side, have to stagger them a little to fit.

Do 2 threaded rods front to back between the subs.

Port on drivers side, 15"t x 6"w...Start w/ 10" deep and tweak from there.

On ~3.5k you should be able to touch 150dB+ around 57hz.

you know the max box size that fits for sure lol i finally figured that out about 2 months ago. how did u fit it through the trunk being 19.75 deep?

biggest i could get was 16.75x32x 18 (prefab) i know i could go almost 38w.

and when i had my old system in i was peaking a 58hz after we changed the port. i also found a peak at 43hz with a box tuned to 36hz.

Just talked to NickV, he said he has to pull the plastic trim out near the trunk opening and it will drop in. My have to play w/ it a little though.

As for the 58hz peak, shoot for that. The N-bodies like about that freq. NickV's Alero has a layer of mat on the trunk lid and floor also.

Have the alero owners join aleromod(dot)com... we have a million members (slight exaggeration), but probably around 10 with something considered an aftermarket soundsystem. We need more knowledgable people in the audio department. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
