Don't let anyone let you think JL amps are overpriced. People on here tend to believe that nonsense. They are fully regulated amps and put out power between 1.5 and 4 ohms. Hence, there is no need to drop the imedance down to lower than rated. These are not SPL amps designed to extract peak power levels for competitions, and it doesn't sound like that's what you are looking for anyhow.
You're going to be hard pressed to find a combo that sounds better than what you have in mind....I would know because a close friend of mine runs a 12w6v2 in a JL spec sealed box powered by a 500/1. One of the cleanest sounding setups I have ever heard, and even made me a true believer in sealed setups, of which I normally don't enjoy.
If you look into reviews for the w6v2 and 500/1 you will find that they are simply some of the cleanest products on the market in terms of sound quality. If you have the money, buy the combo. You are going to be hard pressed to find a better sounding setup. That is my opinion and I have heard a LOT of sub setups.
