To run 2 Alpine Type R's, which is better Earthquake D2 or MTX 8100D???

hahaha you are kidding right?

the most you will ever get out of that d2 is 1600 watts....if that. Ill wager a good bit of beer that you'd get significantly less. Add that to the fact that those amps are unstable as hell and that they have THD+N specs through the roof compared to the mtx, the decision is quite clear.
