What's better - 2 ohm load or 8 ohm load?

I have a Kicker CVR12 4 ohm dual voice coil sub hooked up to a Kicker ZX 750.1 amp. My amp is 750 watts at 2 ohms and 375 watts at 4 ohms. Should I wire the sub to 2 ohms or 8 ohms to get the best out of the sub?

Neither is "better" but 2ohm is the way to go since you can find amps that have 2ohm loads.

yes, 2 ohms will be way louder..... if it doesnt blow the sub... I do not know the rms on them.

My bad didnt read your thread just the title lol but wire it to 2ohms to get the most out of the amp but set your gain down to about half way on your amp. And you will be perfect.

people will say that the higher the ohm load the "cleaner" the sounds will be from the speaker, as the amp can play more percisely or something to that affect.

the less the ohm load is to the amp - the more power the amp will give off.

but - if you hook up a ohm load to the amp that is lower than the amp can handle,

it will catch on fire and die. and you will then subsequently die also from this.

There is no advantage to running it at 8 ohms.

That amp will probably produce 200w or so at 8.

Run it at 2 with the gain low -- the sub will get plenty of power and the amp will be running at low stress. It is the best option w/o question.

There aren't really any disadvantages to raising impedance.

You won't see as much power from your amps, though.

Smaller ohmz bring da deebeez. Bigger ohmz bring teh SQness.

People have said it many times now. Wire it to 2 and set the gain right. You won't go up in flames.
