The whole idea of batcaps and capacitors is completely foreign to me.

Buy a nice HC alternator and a deepcycle or two and call it a day. I have a 220a alternator and a single yellow top that I originally used to run a pair of JBL 1200.1's (2000w RELIABLE POWER @ 2 ohms). Never once saw the headlights dim or the battery go dead.

If you need more than that, don't try to fix the hole in the boat with patches. Just do it the right way and be done with it forever...

There's a shop here in Jackson Ohio I can put you into contact with that will build alternators to your specs all the way up to 400a. If you need anything bigger than that, I'd suggest a flux capacitor instead //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

well the only thing is im only running 1000-1200 watts about, and i just need a little extra to prevent voltage drops, so i was wondering whether i should by my buddy's kinetik 600, or take the front battery out and drop in a 1400. you know 2 batts vs. 1 big one.

hey man,

I did what your thinking about... kept the stock battery up front and got an hc800 and hc600 for the rear trunk... and its annoying really it works and its fine for me, but Id rather shove a 2000 or 2400 up there and leave it at that because 2300+ amps is going to be so much more than what I need...

So dude go with one...buy a kinetic 1400-1800 whatever fits. The 1400 will fit under my hood but im sayin fuvk it and gettin a 2400 and makin the room for it.

Kris

i think im going to start with the 600 and see if i have any voltade drops b/c im getting it for such a good deal ( $70) and if not i'll sell it and upgrade up front.

one other thing, will having slight voltage drops or the battery going dead fry my amp?

PM that number please. How are the prices?

Regrettably i bought a 1400, that doesnt fit in my battery tray. Most trays need a 1800 or 2400. I'd go with one of those upfront.

Dont just do the 6 or 800 cuz its cheap. Otherwise thats like 1/4 the money you could have spent on a good battery you KNOW will work.

for 1200w tho u shouldnt need a HO alt, unless your alt is a pretty weak stock.

You know how many amps it is?

and no slight voltage drops dont fry the amp, but anything below 12 is not good for it at all. My car ran 14.4 to it steady, and fully cranked it would drop to about 12.9.

Do the big 3 under the hood to see if that helps too.

i have a JL 500/1 watt amp. i only have 1 Lexus battery under the hood. At night, fully cranked, the headlights will slightly drop. Is this bad for the amp? how many watts does it take for a person to usually buy a second battery, or get 2 new batteries and replace the old car one?
