I would think that the HD channels for Directv, dish, etc would have a better PQ, but its hard to tell.. Upscaled dvds are supposed to be 1080, but to me it seems like 720p ( which looks like a stretched 4:3 ) but better pq.. Anyone know?

a good HD show to me looks better than DVD

a dvd is a dvd, its not gonna pull new information out of thin air, its already compressed down

you cant tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a dvd, its gonna be displayed at whichever resolution your tv, if your tv gets SD 480p tv or dvd its gonna convert it to 1080 or 720 to display on the screen

which do you like

1000rms

or 700rms that sounds like 1000rms with bass boost +12?

kinda the same

ive never really been impressed with any upscale dvd player

even went the Denon route, tv is a calibrated Mitsubishi

blu ray looks the best right now and the DTS-MA sound track makes it even better

Yea i get it, but when upscaled dvd is "supposed " to be 1080, it doesn't look as good as 1080i on my directv.. Just wondering if it was me or they really are different ..

I really want to get a higher end Receiver that has either Faroudja DCDi or HQV Reon-VX video processing
