Test the tones on your amp? What do you mean by that?

The difference between the two is how "loud" they are. A 3dB tone would actually be a boosted tone and would be clipped -- don't use it. A -3dB tone will be attenuated (made quieter) by 3dB. If you're trying to set gains, do NOT use this tone.

so why dont you go ahead and try out a 0 db test tone...maybe like 60htz

the best way seems imo is to use a 0db 20-80 sine sweep. it the levels get about where they should be on the dmm turn it down and try again. keep trying it till you get it right. that way you'll know for sure you won't be clipping anywhere.

i don't know for sure. but it's the best way for me, not having an O-scope. i don't really listen to rap anyway, and i know i'm not near clipping.

i'd say cross it somewhere between 50-100 hz. depends on the whole system and vehicle.

mines crossed at 63hz with a 12db slope at the moment. sounds good for rock.
