Hey everyone, i am new to this forum... benn into car an audio for bout a year now and i just finally went big.......... not completly big yet but i need to raise some money... right now i have a brand new 05 l7 15 4d (the place i got the sub from lost it in there old store's attic so i got the sub with a sick ported for 400)with a ASA-1000.1D (paid 200 for the amp bran new with a warranty) the sub is bridged down to 2 ohm an the amp push's 500@2 ohm 1000@ 1 ohm..... should i break in my l7 slowly? i jus got it friday...... an if i turn my amp all the way up to push this monster is it gunna hurt my sub or amp... the sub is 1000 rms sooooooo i unno, figured i'd ask some pro's the place i got the install only turned my amp up 1/2 an the boost low.. also whats the best tune for the subsonic, i read 20-25.. an 35 but i dont know so yeah

First rule... NEVER.... And i repeat..... NEVER just "turn the gain all the way up". Biggest NO NO ever. Go to the tutorial for setting gains to the amplifier. That way, you do NOT clip the hell out of your sub. L7s dont like clipped signals. Hell, no sub does.

And the subsonic... is more than likely too low. Being a prefab box... there is really no way to tell the tuning frequency. But if you do in fact find it, (ask the shop, maybe they know) Set the subsonic to the tuning frequency of the enclosure.

ok so go find the gain tuning........ uuummm any opinions on my amp ASA-1000.1D? an if at all possible could you post a link to the gain tutorials?...... and is there anything else i should know about my setup? also what about the bass boost? an as of right now i have my amp 3/4.... an my boost 3/4 an i jus put in my remote bass yesterday.. i usually roll around with it half an if i rerally wanna pound i put it up higher...

its duel 4 ohm... they said i cant bring it to 1 ohm..... how do i do that? i am still a noob in this shit.. imma start reading right now....

yeah they said d4 only bridges to 2 ohm.. an i only got i 15....

He can't wire the sub to 1 ohm.. .it's a dual 4 ohm woofer... You are only going to be able to get 500 watts to the woofer because you can only wire it in parallel to represent a 2 ohm load, which IMO is not nearly enough... You need to invest in a new amp or try and find a Dual 2 ohm L7... Also, you probably want to build a box that is the proper size and tuning for the woofer (assuming the one you have is prefab)

turn that bass boost off. Turn the sub level on your HU all the way up. Then set gains accordingly. To be honest... That sub really isnt a good choice for you. With Dual 4... your only getting a 2 ohm load... After box rise... closer to 2.5 or so.... Your only giving the sub like 500w. Needs twice that to get moving well.

Bastage. Beat me.

yeah i jus talked to car place an found that out... an i guess the box was built custom by a local company g force an was built to spec for a l7 15 ported... as for another amp naw... i am gunna sell this sub in like 3 months an buy 2 fosgate t1's an run em mono for 1000w.. but its all brand new an i didn't have the money for the nasty amp, an i got the sub an box for 400 brand new so it was a deal in comparison to buying new for 450(sub) an 150-250 for the box... its louder than my 2 p1's an my 10 in kicker freeair in a bandpass sooooo..... like it ****in pounds i jus wanna get the most out of it before i sell it.....

an i cant turn my bass on my hu upp all the way my interiors run off it till i put in an amp for highs............ an right now i dont have anymore big wires for the batt. i called the place i got it from too an they said the dont know the tuning freq of the box an they set it so i would have nice sound an not blow my sub

yeah i cant turn the bass up on my hu cuz my highs are running off it.... 5 1/2 clarions......... i have a nice amp for the highs but i need more wire to run the amp.... also i wanna get a cap... right now my ASA-1000.1D is running on 8 g wire to cuz i guess the 4 g i had wasn't any good...... an i had the 8 for the highs an now its used...... like i spent 731 on my shit including install, did i spend to much for it?

Simple answer... probably...

He doesn't mean the BASS on your HU, he means the Subwoofer Level.. I guess this is only assuming you have a subwoofer output on the back of the deck that you are using to power the ASA... 8 gauge is fine since you are just running 500 watts, if you go to 1000watts then you def want to make the upgrade to 4 gauge
