well, im wanting to put a good system together, just to start out with. its goin in a 2000 ford explorer. i dont wanna spend a s*** load of money, but wanting something strong. ive been lookin and reading quite a bit and have read pretty good stuff about pioneer, alpine. one of my buddies is really good at all this, and he said 1 12in type-r 2ohm, hifonics brutus bxi608 amp and a custom box he can build me would be about perfect. he suggested kenwood or alpine for the hu, and liked the KDC-338 the best since i need iPod hookup. tell me what you guys think of this, and what you might suggest instead. thanks!

its ported. and he told me to forget the type -r's, so ill be gettin a fi ssd12 prolly. im sure it will be ported. and central indiana.

I'd do at least 2 12's. The AQ SDC2.5's would do the trick on around 1k of power...

Fi are sick as hell. They'll get loud as balls and sound decent. I say great choice in picking the fi over the r. The fi is affordable and offers the performance of a more expensive woofer.
