What would perform better with 500W

I have a JL 500/1 and currently hooked up to an alpine type r 12".... I was thinking of upgrading to a JL w6v2 12" for better SQ, but I don't want to lose too much power...

I know the w6v2 and the 500/1 are almost perfect for each other, but I'm thinking since I'm underpowering the type R maybe the W6v2 is a better match.

Any idea on some of the differences I would notice?
