What Would Happen if...

I ran an 850rms @ 2 Ohms amp at full gain to only one voice coil on a Kicker Comp CVR07 2 Ohm DVC.

I know I would blow the sub ( I did.) I goofed up the wiring.

But I figured it would be really loud running at 850 watts, but it doesn't seem any louder than when I ran it hooked up correctly at 400RMS @ 4Ohms. ???

double the power will only give you a theoretical gain of 3db, which is virtually inaudible to the human ear. And you running it at full gain might have more to do with messing up the sub than just giving it more than rated power.

Uh Oh. I just bought a RE SE10. I can run it at 600 RMS at 2 Ohms. Is it gonna be louder than the kicker the? or just an unnoticable 3db.

I hope it will be louder

it will sound better. though i'm not sure about what box you are putting it in(pre-fab kicker sealed/ported or an off brand sealed/ported)

just give it around 700-800. though be careful with your gains man.

yea I'll find the post where I made a diagram of how I wired it. I messed up trying to run it at a 2 Ohm load. I think thats series. OOPS! I'm seriously surprised it lasted so **** long.

It's a subthump stealth box for a 99 camaro. It's only .6 cu.in. sealed without the woofer in it. That's why I decided on an SE10 this time, because it needs a much smaller box.

well it would if you only wired one set of coils on the CVR...but wire the CVR 'correctly' your back to eeeeh, who knows, maybe, maybe not.

Negative Ghostrider, the pattern is full.

There could be many reasons why it was pretty much as loud. One of them was probably power compression or the driver being driven to its mechanical limit (a form of power compression). There is only so much you can gain by throwing more power at a driver.
