Where I work, we sell a MDF Oak. Its MDF with a Oak veneer. Runs like $55 a sheet I think. Also have it in Maple. Dont know the price on that.

nah it wasnt birch...someone said specifically light eight MDF.

birch is another whole monster, and it is a hair under 50 where i got it from

Its very nice quality. More of the trim carpenters we deliver to use that over regular Oak Veneer Core ply. Which kind of sucks, cause the MDF like 2.5 times as heavy.

I use light weight MDF on all my boxes. Its called Trupan Light. 80% of the weight of regular MDF. Its like double the price though. But I think it cuts, routes, and accepts screws better also.

Yea I have heard its very bad on them. Its all the glue in it that kills your sharpness.

On the birch, Im not familiar with it. I have never used it, and the only baltic birch we sell is 1/2".

Don't get dissuaded by MDF because it wears out your tools, you aren't making

boxes 24/7 for a year are you ? lol

I hear stories all the time about this. "Buy cheap blades because good blades

are ruined by MDF"....
