im not claiming any legit informatio here. Im just saying that if anyone has put some thought into this, im sure an environmental engineer who works for the government would have some sort of decent input //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
The government has very little on bearing on what the price of gas is going to be. If somebody had any idea and could see the future of these things, they would be instant millionaires in the market.

Bottom line: there is no way to predict a free market, especially on a global scale.

with derivatives, you can control the price.

IMHO all these companies are planning innovative fuel misers for the next 3-5 year timespan. I think they'll be screwed. They'll get away from big, big-engine vehciles and by the time they're rollin out their best fuel sippers gas will be cheap and the demand for heavy vehicles will go back cause nobody will want to settle for econobox if SUVs and trucks become cheaper to run again.

gas will not stay this cheap. we won't drill, and we have too many restrictions on refinement. not to mention, the upcoming health care BS that we'll get in 2009, will be partially subsidized through tax on gas.

I am hoping cheap fuel prices don't cause a return to ineffeciency. I still stand by my $4 vote. It all depends on whether or not we contine to take steps to reduce demand, or we think "woot! gas is $1.xx again so we can throw all oot conservation tactics out the window."
