What type of dye to use in fiberglassing?

I was planning to make my first fiberglass enclosure and i have read alot of tutorials but they dont focus on the finishing part. Does anyone know what kind of dye to use to make the fiberglass have a mirror like finish when you polish the final resin layer? Thanks

dont understand. i have never heard of that type of finish everyone just sands to perfection and paints and clears it

um. you paint it. fiberglass will NEVER come out smooth\mirror after you create it. you need to sand it, then fill all the dips with bodyfiller, then you need to sand it again, and bodyfill again [several times], then you need to paint it.

its a very labor intesive process that takes alot of work and time.

fiberglass/resin, body filler, sand, body filler, sand, sand, sand, sand ( or something like that).

here is pic of the door panels i just built. you can kind of see the different layers of body filler on the panel. kind of looks like the rings on a tree. once you finish sanding you prime your project with some high build sandable primer a few times to get any imperfections out and then paint it.

there is a kind of pigmentation that you add to the final coat with clear resin. it comes in diffrent colors. i forgot what site is it that sells it, but im sure. google will find it.

It can, but in the one off deal we work with in car audio it's not worth it. You can actually make molds and cast perfect parts from them that don't require filler at all. This is the way boat hulls are built. The exterior we see is actually gel coat sprayed into the mold before the glass is laid.
