What tuning for a 15" type r

Listen to mostly metal, after listening to my friends set up,

I don't want to go sealed , it would be nice have that sealed flat response with the ported boxes output, is that possible.

After reading more about ported boxes and their unappealing peak in the50-60 range I thought you guys might have a happy medium.

For comps, tune to the resonant frequency of the vehicle.

For daily, tune to what ever type of music you listen to. Most ppl tune low in the 30-38 hz range, music usually sounds the best in that range...but to each his own.

not replacing the sub, just looking for it to perform

60sq 40 SPL if possible

A larger box is more efficient I read, but in a hatchback a 15 getting 1000 rms should get the

Desired SPL. That being said will a smaller ported box tuned say low 30's yield tighter controlled bass? Bridging the SQ/ SPL gap

Get WinISD Pro, find the Thiele-Small specs for your subwoofer and model that **** up. Different subs like different boxes. You don't want to tune too low for music, but you don't want to tune high and have a huge hump in your response, either.

Then there's the whole cabin gain thing that can throw it off even further, so to take it beyond that, you should measure and tune appropriately...

if u can tune low, like 25hz it looks to be just like a sealed box except it gains 3-4 db on the low end, like 40hz and below. problem is 25 hz is going to make the box big.

but tuning 30-32 should be pretty good, i personally wouldnt go higher than 34

My pc is hooped, in doing all this from my iPhone , wish I could do a box but prob wouldn't know the fine details , how do I find the cabin gain ? I'm guessing mighty google !

People design boxes here right?

I got paypal what's the going rate to design a box,

If it were all done and I just went to home depot with a cut sheet to get my mdf, get them to make my cuts and bam fool proof 1st box.
